Interim Guidelines on Fellowship Nomination and Peer Review Integrity Released

The Academy has issued its Interim Guidelines on Fellowship Nomination and Peer Review Integrity, marking a significant advancement in the formalization of its academic recognition system and the establishment of rigorous standards for scholarly evaluation.
The newly released Guidelines define the foundational principles governing the election of Fellows, articulating a structured process based on nomination, independent peer assessment, and collective academic review. This framework is designed to ensure that Fellowship appointments reflect sustained scientific excellence, originality of contribution, and demonstrable impact within respective fields of inquiry.
Central to the Guidelines is the Academy’s commitment to transparency, merit-based evaluation, and disciplinary equity. The document establishes clear procedural safeguards to prevent conflicts of interest, uphold confidentiality in peer review, and maintain consistency across disciplinary Sections. It also introduces standardized criteria for assessing scholarly achievement, leadership in research, and contributions to the advancement of knowledge.
“The integrity of our Fellowship system is inseparable from the credibility of the Academy itself,” the Academy stated in its official communiqué. “These Interim Guidelines provide the ethical and procedural foundations upon which a lasting community of distinguished scholars will be built.”
The Guidelines further outline the respective roles of nominators, reviewers, Sectional Committees, and the Permanent Scientific Council, clarifying responsibilities at each stage of evaluation. Particular emphasis is placed on collegial deliberation and evidence-based assessment, reinforcing the Academy’s philosophy of scholarly self-governance.
In addition to Fellowship procedures, the document introduces preliminary standards for peer review across the Academy’s publications, assemblies, and internal assessments. These measures are intended to promote consistency in academic quality assurance while supporting interdisciplinary engagement among the Academy’s five principal domains.
With the release of these Guidelines, the Academy advances another core element of its institutional framework, complementing earlier milestones in governance and legal establishment. Preparatory work will now proceed toward the Academy’s inaugural Fellowship nomination cycle, alongside continued development of internal policies on research ethics, archival management, and scholarly communication.
This step reinforces the Academy’s long-term mission to honor scientific excellence, cultivate international collaboration, and uphold the highest standards of academic integrity in service of society.
